    The company PKP Regional Service is the biggest rail operator serving passenger traffic throughout the country. Every day its operates 3,604 regional trains and 362 inter-provincial trains.

    PKP Fast Regional Rail in Tri-City, Ltd. (SKM) is inseparably blended well into the transport system of Tri-City, Reda, Rumia and Wejherowo. Trains operated from Gdańsk to Gdynia Chylonia and farther to Wejherowo represent the essential core of SKM. These trains use a separate double-track electrified line No. 250 Gdańsk Główny - Rumia 31.7 km long, while in section Rumia - Wejherowo 12.3 km long they are operated on tracks of line No. 202 together with other operators.

    Warsaw Commuter Rail. Wukadka" is a popular rail serving capital city of Warsaw agglomeration that has linking the city centre with suburban small towns and villages as long as for 75 years. WKD train path amounts to about 35 km. It passes through areas of communes: Michałowice, Pruszków, Brwinów, Podkowa Leśna, Grodzisk Mazowiecki, Milanówek and Warsaw.

  5. PKP - Polskie Koleje Państwowe Details
    PKP Group was established in 2001 as a result of restructuring process of the state-owned enterprise Polish Railway Lines. In compliance with directives of the European Union, the transformation was aimed at separation of operating activities of the railways from managing railway lines and set up independent commercial entities that would be able to provide services not exclusively in the railway market. In this publication we are going to present PKP according to the new organisation structure. PKP Group means the company PKP, Joint Stock Company (PKP, JSC) and 106 companies including 35 companies, in which PKP, JSC has 100% voices on partners' assemblies or general assemblies. The core of PKP, JSC is constituted by operating companies that provide services on passenger transport market ( PKP Intercity Sp. z o. o., PKP Przewozy Regionalne Sp. z o. o., PKP Szybka Kolej Miejska Sp. z o. o., PKP Warszawska Kolej Dojazdowa Sp. z o. o. ), freight transport market ( PKP Cargo S.A., PKP Linia Hutnicza Szerokotorowa Sp. z o. o. ) and also by the companies connected with rail infrastructure ( PKP Polskie Linie Kolejowe S.A., PKP Energetyka Sp. z o. o., Telekomunikacja Kolejowa Sp. z o. o., PKP Informatyka Sp. z o.o.). Most of them were separated by the mother company PKP, JSC based on the Act of 8 September 2000 'On commercialisation, restructuring and privatisation of the state-owned enterprise Polish State Railways'. Three companies started to run their business on the basis of a concession issued by Minister of Transport and Maritime Economy, namely: LHS, WKD and SKM.

  7. LHS - Linia Hutnicza Szerokotorowa Sp. z o.o. freight trains Details
    Since 2001 the line has been managed by the company PKP Broad-Gauge Metallurgy Line, Ltd. (LHS) on the basis of a concession granted by Minister of Transport and Maritime Economy for managing and performing freight service. At the end of 70th a broad-gauge railway line was built especially for needs of the then metallurgical giant - Katowice Steelworks and Tarnobrzeg Sulphurfield. Therefore, it was called as metallurgy-sulphur line from kind of commodities dominating in freight traffic served by the line. This broad-gauge track led from the border crossing with Ukraine - Hrubieszów/Izov having its ending in Sławków near Katowice, total length of the line amounted to almost 400 km. It is still the longest track with gauge 1520 mm reaching nearly centre of the country. Station Sławków Południowy located at the ending of the broad-gauge metallurgy line has gained a strategic significance from the time, when building of logistic centre was taken into consideration in this area. Here, in the interface point of tracks with two gauges, majority of cargoes transported along the line is reloaded. From here, after transhipment operations, transport of goods is planned from Polish to European economic centres. The broad-gauge line can become a part of Euro-Asian transport corridor with making use of the railway Trans-Siberian Main Line.
