PKP - Polskie Koleje Państwowe
PKP Group was established in 2001 as a result of restructuring process of the state-owned enterprise Polish Railway Lines. In compliance with directives of the European Union, the transformation was aimed at separation of operating activities of the railways from managing railway lines and set up independent commercial entities that would be able to provide services not exclusively in the railway market. In this publication we are going to present PKP according to the new organisation structure. PKP Group means the company PKP, Joint Stock Company (PKP, JSC) and 106 companies including 35 companies, in which PKP, JSC has 100% voices on partners' assemblies or general assemblies. The core of PKP, JSC is constituted by operating companies that provide services on passenger transport market ( PKP Intercity Sp. z o. o., PKP Przewozy Regionalne Sp. z o. o., PKP Szybka Kolej Miejska Sp. z o. o., PKP Warszawska Kolej Dojazdowa Sp. z o. o. ), freight transport market ( PKP Cargo S.A., PKP Linia Hutnicza Szerokotorowa Sp. z o. o. ) and also by the companies connected with rail infrastructure ( PKP Polskie Linie Kolejowe S.A., PKP Energetyka Sp. z o. o., Telekomunikacja Kolejowa Sp. z o. o., PKP Informatyka Sp. z o.o.). Most of them were separated by the mother company PKP, JSC based on the Act of 8 September 2000 'On commercialisation, restructuring and privatisation of the state-owned enterprise Polish State Railways'. Three companies started to run their business on the basis of a concession issued by Minister of Transport and Maritime Economy, namely: LHS, WKD and SKM. Poland
