West Rail (Hong Kong)
West Rail, commissioned in December 2003, has been designed to serve the transportation needs of the growing new towns in the Northwest New Territories for generations to come. The massive project was the first significant addition to the KCR network since the 1980s. West Rail provides a reliable and convenient service to the area's growing population and makes the region a more attractive location for businesses and residential developments. West Rail is a 30.5-kilometre railway that runs from Tuen Mun in the Northwest New Territories to Nam Cheong in West Kowloon. There are a total of nine stations, and a journey from Tuen Mun to Nam Cheong takes only 30 minutes. West Rail passengers can interchange for the MTR Tung Chung Line at Nam Cheong, and for the MTR Tsuen Wan Line at Mei Foo. China
