East Rail (Hong Kong)
Formerly the Hong Kong section of the Kowloon Canton Railway, East Rail has been Hong Kong's primary north-south transportation artery since it began operations in 1910. East Rail has been fast expanding in recent years. With the commissioning of the Tsim Sha Tsui Extension and Ma On Shan Rail to the KCR network in 2004, East Rail provides even more convenient mass transit services for the people of Hong Kong. There are 22 stations along the 46.5 kilometres East Rail (including Tsim Sha Tsui Extenstion and Ma On Shan Rail) network. An additional spur line running from Sheung Shui to Lok Ma Chau is due to be completed in 2007. It will provide Hong Kong's second rail link with the Mainland. China
